We’re Hiring! Working for Black Arrow is not your average 9-5, and we’re not looking for your average team member!

Due to rapid expansion and increasing demand for our services, we are significantly increasing the size of our team at Black Arrow Cyber Consulting. We are the leading and largest dedicated Cyber and Information Security consultancy in the Channel Islands. We work collaboratively with clients in Guernsey, UK, Europe and worldwide to design and implement their pragmatic and proportionate Cyber Security strategy. We upskill Boards to govern their own cyber risks and to get the best value and security from their in-house IT team or outsourced IT providers.

What makes Black Arrow different?

Several new Cyber Security providers have recently appeared in Guernsey, offering services that may be called the same thing but under the hood they look very different. What sets us apart are our leading qualifications and global experience in Cyber Security, IT, Finance, HR, Governance, Risk and Compliance. Our experience spans British Intelligence, UK National Security, Central Government, securing FTSE100 firms and global and offshore financial services, as well as Big-4 Consulting and Regulation. One of our founding directors conducted the thematic review for the GFSC that led to the new GFSC Cyber Security Rules. We are truly passionate about Cyber Security, our impartiality, our ability to be objective, and our focus on quality support for our clients.

We firmly believe that Cyber and Information Security requires aligned controls across People, Operations and Technology, which is why we think much wider than just IT.

We know that Boards want trusted, independent and impartial assurance from a partner who shares their wealth of experience to demystify all the vital areas of Cyber Security, and take the pain away by simplifying how to demonstrate strong governance in protecting their business and clients. We help Boards to understand whether they really are as secure as their provider tells them they are, by guiding the Board in asking the appropriate challenging questions and correctly understanding the information they receive. Our weekly threat intelligence reports, available publicly on our website, enable us to alert our clients to wider risks and the controls to put in place.

When clients engage us to support them, they are getting the knowledge, experience and qualifications of not just one Cyber Security specialist but an entire team of experts who think about Cyber Security all day, every day. We are looking for highly motivated and diligent client-facing consultants to join our expanding Cyber Protect team.

Are you our next hire?

This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-paced, respected and distinctive advisory team with a focus on providing high quality, trusted, independent and impartial services to all our clients. As a successful candidate, you will demonstrate exceptional analysis, project management and business acumen. You will also need to be a team-player who is committed to going further in making a difference to our clients and upholding our values.

To be successful, you will have previous experience in Cyber and Information Security and in managing business risk either through in-house roles or as an external advisor. You will demonstrate a deep understanding of the Cyber Security and business challenges that our clients face, and be able to communicate complex technology-driven issues to senior executives in business terminology.

What will you achieve with Black Arrow?

Our popular services include Cyber Security gap analysis reports, virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO) support, Cyber Security strategy design and implementation, Board and employee education and awareness, and Cyber Security incident management and simulations. Our website gives full details of these.

You will play a strong role in the end-to-end delivery in some or all these client services. This involves:

·       ensuring a sound understanding of the client’s business risks and controls across people, operations and technology

·       upskiling the client Board to be a ‘sparring-partner’ with Black Arrow in developing and owning their Cyber Security strategy and controls

·       asking the key revealing and impartial questions on behalf of the client to understand the true security of the systems and operations provided by their in-house or outsourced providers

·       guiding the client in prioritising and pragmatically remediating the insights and risks revealed by our gap analyses, incident response exercises, and other services

·       educating employees on their role in protecting the organisation, beyond generic sheep-dip training to be specific to the client’s operations and controls

·       working with external technical partners to deliver integrated solutions and draw out recommendations from their technical findings

·       providing flexible and responsive support as and when clients require crisis management support

·       cultivating and maintaining long-term relationships with clients

·       participating in pro-bono events for charities and business groups to improve their security

·       working with other departments within Black Arrow

·       continuously improving our Cyber Security methodologies and approaches

·       contributing to our professional development and training programme.

What skills and experience do you need in Black Arrow?

It is essential that our team members are experienced in Cyber Security risk management, either in an in-house role or external consultancy, and can view Cyber Security in terms of aligned controls across people, operations and technology, ideally with experience in delivering risk assessments against industry standards such as the NIST CSF, and ISO27001. This means seeing security risks and controls from the perspective of both the attacker and the business, and having a sound knowledge of IT and network infrastructure.

Our clients expect us to be pragmatic in our recommendations. That means engaging with senior leadership teams to consider and identify Cyber Security controls and solutions that are proportionate to the needs and context of the business.

We are an entrepreneurial and collaborative team. We expect all Black Arrow team members to support each other, in particular junior team members, in delivering quality results for our clients. This includes cultivating and maintaining a strong team spirit and engagement with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude underpinned by ethical values.

What about qualifications?

This quality sets us apart from many of the Cyber Security advisers that have recently appeared in Guernsey.

Our consultants must have, or be willing to study for, industry leading qualification in a field related to Cyber and Information Security, intelligence or computer science. Examples include CISSP, SSCP, CISA, CISM, CRISC, and/or GIAC/SANS qualifications or a respected college/university qualification. We support our team members in funding and studying to advance their careers.

That being said, aptitude and attitude count for a lot, so if you are not currently in cyber but are interested in a career change then we still want to hear from you.

Contact us to see how you can make a real difference to the security of clients in Guernsey and beyond.

We are building a diverse team, and we welcome applications from candidates of all characteristics. What matters is your passion for Cyber Security and quality client service, underpinned by honourable values. Contact us now on +44 1481 711 988 or careers@blackarrowcyber.com to find out more.
